From owner/photographer Jennifer Connelly:
Older students want something different from the stale, traditional school photos that come to mind with "school photo day". But there is also something to be said for simply capturing our children at this space and time. I think we can totally accomplish something different and unique that both parents and students will love. His or her own uniqueness will shine through with me as the photographer, even if the set up is simple. Think more “environmental/lifestyle” portraiture.
PHOTO SET UP- 3 OPTIONS
1. Environmental/Lifestyle Portraits Indoors
Location: Indoors with ability to move about to more than one area of the school. A simple hand-held, side lighting set up will be used for mobility and depth. For example, the art room for visual arts majors, the theatre for those majors, band room etc. The goal is to include some of his/her school environment in the portraits. This is a more casual, organic feel.
2. Environmental Portraits Outdoors
Location: Outside the building at a close by area. Photos can be taken from different angles, close up or far away, interesting composition, props OK and whatever let’s his/her personality shine through. This is a casual, organic feel but can also be used as portfolio head-shots for college applications.
3. Classic/Hip Studio Portraits Indoors
Location: One spot/room in the building with a classic studio lighting set up. Use of a dark or black backdrop creates a classic and artistic feel. This will be easier for the school than moving around and students can get professional headshots for portfolios. Although each background is the same, the posing and expressions, use of props will make each image unique. This is a classic look with a professional feel.
